It was a welcome break to play in the Hampshire Cup as our league programme had become quite intense of late. We knew nothing of our opposition other than having a quick look on the internet?
Joey picked up a knock playing for the 1st team and Somebody dropped a lump of wood on Gazza’s toe? This mean’t we had to shuffle things around a bit but we have an excellent squad and not once this season do I feel we have had to play somebody in a position they were not suited to.
We kicked off and were quickly into our stride, saying this the first real opportunity fell to one of their players after loose play from Nobby.
After 9 minutes Twiggy put Craig through who coolly took the ball forwards and finished with an air of real class. Almost straight from kick off we were attacking again, action in the box saw Twiggy’s header go straight in, Skedy could have claimed it but gave it to Twiggy as he hadn’t made contact with the ball, 2-0.
After 13 minutes an excellent corner from Matt saw Ian thunder his header home, a very well worked goal.
On 20 minutes only a good last gasp header from the Kavell number 10 denied Twiggy a second goal, 2 minutes later Will put Matt through one on one with the keeper only to see his clever (Cheeky) chip go just over. 25 minutes, 3 Eversley players beat their offside trap the resulting play saw Jonny miss by a whisker!
30 minutes, after excellent work by Matt down the right, saw him upended on the edge of the box, his free kick ended up with Jonny who blasted the ball into the net from 10yards.
After some good play by Craig down the left saw Jonny with the easiest of chances, 5-0 to us after 40 minutes.
Again almost from their kick off Skedy harassed one of their defender, chased him down, robbed him and slide the ball home. 6-0 at half time.
The second half started in exactly the same vein and after 50 minutes Jonny completed his hatrick (Yes, you are reading this correctly!) with a crisp shot into the top left hand corner!!!!
Kavell’s number 10 and captain saw a dipping free kick from 35 yards crash against the crossbar, this, apart from the first shot of the game were the only chances they had.
On 58 minutes Craig broke down the right, he found Matt who finished the move off with a classy finish in the top left hand corner.
With 30 minutes to go we made 3 subs, nobody deserved to come off but we wanted to get everyone on.
On 67 minutes Craig’s cross was coolly finished with a fine header from Skedy. After 81 minutes another cross from Craig found Skedy at the far post to tap home. 83 minutes saw yet another cross from Craig found Hoggie who cheekily back heeled the ball into the net,
After 85 minutes, good build up play saw Will Finish the move off with a cool well taken shot, giving their keeper no chance, 12-0.
An excellent team performance all round with everyone making a significant contribution, the man of the match today was Craig who seemed to have a hand in everything we did, making 6 of the goals and scoring the first.
