After a couple weekends of cup ties we were back to league matches, our opponents today were the Four Horseshoes, who have had some mixed results up until now. After more bad weather this week we were confident of playing due to the incredible way the main Eversley pitch handles the rain!
As per normal we had a few players missing for one reason or another but we had 14 players so the only real headache was which ones would go on the bench?
There is a real air of confidence in the team at the moment, we kicked off and were quickly into our stride, after 4 minutes a poor kick from their keeper was latched onto by Gaz who then beat 2 of their defenders, he rounded the keeper and slotted the ball home from a tight angle.
13 minutes, Skedy harassed one of their defenders, took the ball, teased the goalkeeper out and calmly toe poked the ball home.
After 15 minutes good build up play saw a controlled shot by Twiggy squarely hit the post!
35 minutes, a stupid free kick given away by us saw the usual safe hands of Sam let the resultant shot slip from his grip only to see a Four Horseshoes player scramble the ball into the net, maybe it was the kick up the backside we needed!
41 minutes, Will put Craig through with a free run on goal, which Craig duly dispatched, unfortunately their keeper twisted his knee closing Craig down and had to go off.
47 minutes good movement between Matt and Hoggie saw Hoggie find Craig in space, Craig composed himself and fired the ball into the top left hand corner quite impressively, 4-1 at halftime.
We had lots of the ball and a constant stream of chances before we increased our lead on 59 minutes, Matt’s corner was headed into the back of the net by Skedy who was a constant threat to the Four Horseshoes defence.
Before they kicked off again we took Gaza and Matt off and replaced them with Chris and Deano, this mean’t we changed our shape a bit, moving Craig out wide, either side he fancied and playing 3 in the middle, with Twiggy and Jonny overlapping. Unfortunately we had to change it again after 65 minutes as Chris twisted his ankle and couldn’t continue. Nobby came on, Craig moved back into the middle, Jonny moved upinto midfield and Nobby took Jonny’s place at the back.
67 minutes they opened us like a book and scored a really good goal. We could be accused of ball watching and a little complacent?
70 miutes saw a real calamity for them at the back with Skedy’s header spinning into the goal when it looked so easy to clear it? 6-2
What happened now in the next 10 minutes was unbelievable, 80 minutes, Skedy went down the right played the ball into Craig who completed his hatrick with the simplest of chances.
84 minutes saw Hoggie capitalize on a poor goal kick, he simply controlled the ball ran on and calmly score.
85 minutes Craig scored from Skedy’s chest down.
86 minutesJoey’s shot was blocked but Hoggie cheekily backheeled it into the net 10-2
88 minutes, Joey placed a lovely shot beyond the reach of their keeper.
The funniest thing was watching their number 6 go off for a fag in disgust!!!!
89 minutes, after good work by Skedy gave Craig another simple opportunity, Craig let the ball run which fooled their keeper to side foot the ball home 12-2.
These goals could be all important come the end of the season? There were so many candidates for man of the match, Ian hasn’t been mentioned, nor Twiggy or Will but all could have got it but it goes to Hoggie for his all round contribution, his first touch was excellent and his passes always found their destination.
