2009/10 Match Reports

With a few players missing through injury, work and other commitments we made some more changes, the biggest being Nobby pushed up front and just two players on the bench after having much more choice these past few weeks.

CB came with a good squad full of strong players and they also came to play and some of their posession and passing in the first half got us on the back foot and look liked it would be a very tought afternoon. It was, however we made things look straight forward because our attitude, discipline and commitment was spot on.

We opened the scoring through a penalty which was well converted by Neemsy - after good build up play the ball went across the box where Giggsy had room and was bearing down on goal but a mistimed tackle from the lively CB full back led to a straight forward decision by the referee. Great spot kick and Neemsy’s good goal scoring run continued. We went in at the break confident but very cautious still but the second half saw us gain momentum and with Nobby and Neemsy very busy up front, central midfield working their socks off and defensively looking sound we stamped our authority on the game and didn’t look like getting beaten.

Ernie made it 2-0 with some ten minutes to play and then Nobby popped up to make the result clear with a few minutes to go. A really professional and creditable display from the lads and another vital three points. Also, 4th clean sheet of the season for the supposed to be retired goalkeeper.

Team: Drewell, Pennington, Sheehy, Cole, Cordaro, Jenkins(Calder, 65), Boultwood, Firth, Gigg (Mahoney, 70), Neemes, Webster
