After a great run of results and winning an award for February’s performances we welcomed Hanworth Villa to The Pen. We drew 2-2 with these guys at the beginning of the season and we had another tough game against them. With a few changes to the team for the game we started fairly brightly with Dobbo going close on a couple of occasions however HW settled into the game much better than we did. HW scored twice within a 15 minute spell during the first half. The first came from a clever free kick which was curled around the wall and went in at the near post - a really good finish from the NW No.7 who generally had a good confident game for the visitors. Their second was a really well worked goal which saw a through ball catch Coley the wrong side of the HW striker and he cooly lobbed Luca from 18 yards with a very tidy finish that gave the keeper no chance.
The second half offerred us spells of attacks but we never really looked confident enough to get back in the game. Hanworth threatened however the two goals in the first half set them up for victory on a day that saw the right result as HW played very well. Some of the lads may have had their thoughts on the semi-final coming up this week as we look to keep a good cup record going.
Not a great way to start the month after a successful February period and we have some very tough games coming up.
