With 6 enforced changes from last Saturday victory over Farleigh Rovers this was always going to be a difficult match for the Boars and only a delightful 22 yard strike by substitute Chris Allen saved the 1^st team from their 1^st defeat in 5 games. Eversley’s best spell came in the first quarter of an hour as Matt Neemes and Gary Rogers dominated the centre of the park. Chances were few and far between though and the home side were restricted to shots from distance that never troubled the Sheerwater keeper. The game was held up for 5 minutes after a serious injury to Matt Neemes who now looks certain to be sidelined for some time. The second quarter belonged to the visitors and only the timely interceptions from centre backs Neville & Cole kept the score line level at the break.

Eversley consolidated their 2^nd placed position with 2 excellent victories over the bank holiday weekend. Saturday saw a trip to Croydon Arena and an excellent 1^st half performance saw the Boars 4-0 up by half time. A 25 yard screamer by Chris Bark opened the scoring on 10 minutes, followed by 2 converted penalty by Matt Stamp after Stamp himself was brought down on both occasions. Craig Smith`s free kick on the half hour effectively ended the game as a contest. Only the second half dismissal of Wil Neville soured the day.

Monday 30^th August 2010 CCL Division 1 – Eversley 2 - 0  Farnborough North End

An attendance of 110 saw Monday`s game against a strengthening Farnborough North End  and this was always going to be a tougher task. Neither side dominated the opening exchanges after a tense and chanceless 1^st half. The midfield runs of Craig Smith were causing FBN problems in the  second period and on a better day Smith could have grabbed a brace, squaring a ball that he could have slotted home and then lobbing just wide. The home side were stunned when against the run of play the visitors Richard Hale scored after the Boars failed to clear a long throw. The ball fell kindly for Hale whose powerful near post drive deceived Luca Groves. It was now all Eversley and the introduction of Richard Evans and Mark Wiggins changed the game for the home side. Evans fired home from 20yards with his 1^st touch only for Scully to be ruled offside and interfering with play. With ten minutes to go Evans then flicked on Wiggins long throw to Matt Stamp who tucked the ball in the corner from a 6 yards out to level the scores. 5 minutes later and Eversley had turned the game on his head. This time Sam Scully provided the ammunition for a Matt Stamp to glance his header into the corner and seal the points. This Saturday Eversley entertain Sheeerwater at Fox Lane k/o 3pm.

The scoreline somewhat flattered the Boars however who had keeper Giles to thank with two outstanding stops in the 1^st fifteen minutes of the game. This coupled with Chobham hitting the woodwork twice in the same period reflects the shaky start made by The Boars very young side. Their nerves were calmed on 27 minutes after debutant Tom Collins was scythed down in the box as he went shoot for a stonewall penalty which Tristan Lewis dispatched with ease.

The missing confidence of the early minutes disappeared immediately and Eversley had 2 more goals narrowly ruled out for off side before Tom Collins latched on to Jordan Lee Brown’s through ball to make no mistake and put the visitors 2-0 up on the break.

The second half saw an attempted Chobham  fightback repelled by the excellent Wil Neville & Jordan Lee Brown at the back. Indiscipline then set in for the home side whose saw their numbers reduced to 10 after an awful challenge on Dan Taylor. Eversley’s excellent fitness levels that saw them dominate the latter part of some pre season friendlies again bore fruit as they scored 3 times in the remaining 15 minutes with another goal disallowed for offside- Sam Scully, Craig Smith and a 30 yard screamer from Matt Stamp the goal scorers.

Notable performances all over the park with Craig Smith just edging out a number of others to claim the man of the match plaudits. Much tougher tests await with 3 games in the next 7 days against Farnham, Hayes Gate and Staines Lammes with Hayes Gate visiting Fox Lane this Saturday.
